Big Data

Big Data Community

Welcome to the JAAGNet Community for Big Data.

Big Data is a term used to describe a collection of data that is huge in size and yet growing exponentially with time. These data sets are so voluminous that none of the traditional data management tools can store it or process it efficiently. These massive volumes of data can be used to address business problems which previously could not have been tackled. Big Data has totally changed and revolutionized the way businesses and organizations work, Big Data applications encompass our daily personal and business lives; media and entertainment, finance, healthcare, education, retail and manufacturing all areas where big data is applied.

Let's start with a definition:

noun:  big data

noun: extremely large data sets that may be analysed computationally to reveal patterns, trends, and associations, especially relating to human behaviour and interactions.
"much IT investment is going towards managing and maintaining big data"
